This bathroom underwent a transformation of a remodel. We transported the very traditional, outdated room into a modern, Los Angeles resort inspired escape. Though the room has minimal touches they are impactful. The terrazzo tile floor and walls are a bold choice that one doesn’t see often – especially in St. Louis. The terrazzo has a beautiful color palette including black and pink which pair so nicely with the carefully selected natural walnut wood in the floating vanity. The kit kat white wall tile positioned in a vertical orientation on the tub and vanity wall are a nice backdrop of texture and eye-pleasing foundation for the layers of detail that carefully sit on them. The 400 pound concrete tub almost didn’t make it into the finished design as it wouldn’t fit up the stairwell and had to be crane lifted through the second story bathroom window (which gave the neighbors a show to watch). The tub pendant was purchased on a whim shopping trip to New York which is the BEST kind of find. It resembles a warm sunset on a vacation. The walk-in shower is a favorite for the tall homeowners as the previous shower was closed in and small and made them feel claustrophobic. Now they feel open and cheerful when showering. Another plus is the shower is a dream to clean with no shower door and minimal grout, as well as a sloped, flush, zero entry floor. The eye catching view is the symmetrical design of the vanity wall with the custom black metal mirrors designed around the stone backsplashes and wall mounted Rohl Eclissi faucets that mount perfectly over the counter installed vessel sink bowls. The 3 wall sconces are perfect proportions between the two mirrors. The polished brass hardware was another bold choice and a fan favorite. The natural stone feels like it came from nature.
