This kitchen remodel was for a historic farmhouse that was built around 1850 in New Haven, Missouri. The views out the windows are breathtaking. Just outside the kitchen back door are a flurry of chickens with proper names including, Charlotte and Elizabeth. Prior to the remodel the kitchen had the original wood burning stove in a corner and there was minimal counter space. There were only two small windows. In fact, the homeowners used furniture in the kitchen to help add additional counter space. The new design thought about the space in an entirely new way, tripling the size of the kitchen cabinet storage space and bringing in modern amenities with top-of-the-line paneled appliances and quaint subtle green cabinetry. Contractors worked very hard to cut through the original 1850 brick walls to add a large new window over the farmhouse sink so the views of the country could be enjoyed from the whole kitchen. The French La Cornue white range paired with the light sage green cabinets transports guests into a European getaway when they visit. The assorted glazed brick backsplash was installed and went surprisingly well with the old brick walls which were discovered during the demolition. We decided to keep the original brick exposed in the new design where we could. It joins with the white glazed brick backsplash quite well. The brass lighting and faucet accents, along with the hardware, are the perfect layer for European touches.
